How Diamond Painting Works
Diamond painting is a beginner-friendly mosaic craft. You place tiny resin drills onto a coded adhesive canvas to build a finished design one dot at a time. It is easy to learn, satisfying to do, and simple to pick up in short evening sessions.
If you are new to diamond painting, start small and work one section at a time. You do not need drawing skills or previous crafting experience to enjoy it.
What comes in a kit?
Each kit includes the core tools to get started: an adhesive canvas, sorted drills, a stylus pen, wax, and a tray. Match the symbol on the canvas to the correct drill colour, then place each drill onto the sticky surface.
How it works
1. Match the symbol
Use the chart on the canvas to find the colour and symbol you need for the section you are working on.
2. Prepare your pen
Press the tip of the stylus lightly into the wax so it can pick up a single drill.
3. Pick up a drill
Lift one resin drill with the pen and keep your tray nearby so the next colour is easy to reach.
4. Place it on the canvas
Set the drill onto the matching symbol and continue slowly across a small area rather than peeling back the whole sheet at once.
5. Build the picture one section at a time
As more drills are placed, the image starts to shimmer and the final design becomes clearer.
Beginner tips
- Work in small sections so the adhesive stays clean and easy to manage.
- Keep colours separated in their bags or containers so you can find each one quickly.
- Use light pressure when placing drills. You can adjust them gently before moving on.
- Take your time and treat it like a calming routine, not something to rush through.
Most beginners feel comfortable within the first session. The process is repetitive in a good way, and that is exactly why so many people find it calming.
